Owen Sound, ON – Friday, April 25, 2013 – The Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services will be starting the annual Home Visitation and Assistance Program May 1st, 2013.
This voluntary program is completed by the on duty fire fighters and allows homeowners a chance to have their homes checked for life safety devices as well as giving homeowners an opportunity to ask questions of the firefighters.
“The home visitation and assistance program has been very successful,” said Fire Chief Ed Nowak. “The firefighters will ensure working smoke alarms are present on every level of the home and answer any questions the home owner may have in regards to home fire and life safety.”
The area of the City of Owen Sound involved in the 2013 campaign is the South West portion of the city. The fire fighters will be visiting homes from 6:30pm to 8:30pm Tuesday through Thursday evenings in the area south of 10th Street West and West of 2nd Avenue East. The program is voluntary for homeowners.
If a resident does not live in the area that is being canvassed and would like a visit from our firefighters to discuss their home fire safety and life safety, please contact the fire department at 519-376-2512 to schedule an inspection.
The Western union money transfer Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services wants to help the residents with any questions that they may have in regards to home fire and life safety which also includes proper placement of Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms.
